About This Workshop

Have you ever felt like your home environment is working against your healing? Like your space feels chaotic when you need calm, overwhelming when you're already struggling, or just not quite right for supporting your chronic illness recovery?

You're not imagining things. For many people managing chronic conditions, our living environments can either support our nervous system or add unnecessary stress, but figuring out how to make practical changes that actually help can feel overwhelming without support.

Join Giovanna Akins, MPH, MA, LPC and Destiny Davis, LPC, CRC for a conversation about creating restorative home environments that support chronic illness recovery & and how to make practical changes that work with your mind and body's needs.

Location: Zoom Webinar

What We'll Cover:

  • Environmental impact on healing: How your physical surroundings directly affect your nervous system, pain levels, and recovery from chronic illness symptoms

  • Natural elements that heal: Practical ways to incorporate plants, natural light, and organic materials into your space—even on a tight budget or in rental properties

  • Color and lighting strategies: Evidence-based approaches to using warm/cool tones and different lighting types to manage fatigue, sensory sensitivities, and mood regulation

  • Decluttering for your nervous system: Organization techniques that reduce mental overwhelm without requiring perfection or major lifestyle overhauls

  • Sensory modifications that work: Simple adjustments to sound, scent, and texture in your home that can calm your fight-or-flight response and support rest

  • Creating recovery spaces: How to design dedicated areas for rest and healing, even if you're working with limited space, mobility, or shared living situations

  • Implementation strategies: Realistic approaches for making changes when you're managing limited energy, chronic pain, or financial constraints

This Workshop Is For You If:

  • You're managing chronic illness and feel like your home environment is adding stress instead of supporting your healing

  • You're dealing with sensory sensitivities, fatigue, or pain that makes your living space feel overwhelming or uncomfortable

  • You want to create a more restorative environment but feel limited by budget, energy levels, or rental restrictions

  • You're tired of generic home advice that doesn't consider the real challenges of living with chronic conditions

  • You need practical, accessible strategies for making your space work better for your body's specific needs
