Counseling Intern

Specialized Support for Chronic Illness & Medical Trauma at an Accessible Rate.

Hi, I’m Angie Holland.

Who I help

Navigating a Dismissive System If you are living with chronic illness or navigating the aftermath of medical trauma, you know how isolating it feels when your reality is invalidated—by providers, by society, or even by the people closest to you.

I specialize in working with clients who are tired of being told to "just think positively" while facing real physical constraints. I am currently training directly under Destiny Davis, learning the specific approach to working with:

  • Medical trauma and health anxiety.

  • The nervous system impact of navigating dismissive healthcare systems.

  • Conditions that are historically minimized by the medical establishment, such as Autoimmune Disorders, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Breast Implant Illness.

Why This Work Matters to Me

My path to this specialty began during my graduate coursework, where I saw clearly how certain conditions—particularly those affecting women—are frequently dismissed, minimized, or unacknowledged.

Through my study of complex illnesses, I learned how powerful it is to finally have language for your experience. My goal is to provide a space where you never have to defend your pain. I am here to validate your reality and help you process the heavy emotional toll of navigating a healthcare system that often doesn't listen.

Therapy That Understands Your Reality

My therapeutic approach is grounded in goal-focused frameworks and developmental psychology. This means we won't just look at what patterns exist in your life, but why they developed and how to safely create change.

My commitment to you is therapy that actually understands the realities of chronic illness.

  • No Toxic Positivity: My goal isn't to "fix" you or convince you that everything is fine.

  • Real Life Focus: We will work together to help you live the most fulfilling life possible while navigating very real physical constraints.

High-Level Care at an Accessible Rate

As a Master’s-level counseling intern, I offer a unique opportunity for clients to receive specialized care at a significantly reduced rate ($25–$40 per session).

Because I am a student intern, I work under close supervision. This means you benefit from a collaborative approach: you get a therapist who is deeply engaged in the latest learning, guided every step of the way by seasoned professionals.
