Chronic Illness, ADHD & Grief Therapist in Atlanta, GA

Hi, I’m Rachel Hopkins.

I help teens, young adults, and families navigate the intersection of chronic illness, neurodivergence, and grief—especially when life doesn’t look the way you expected.

You might be managing a diagnosis, struggling to stay on top of responsibilities, or quietly grieving changes that others don’t fully understand. Maybe you’ve always felt “different,” overwhelmed, or like you’re working twice as hard just to keep up.

Therapy here is about building a life that actually fits you.

My Background

About Rachel Hopkins, LPC, CRC

Neurodivergent-Affirming, Chronic Illness-Informed Therapy

My work is grounded in evidence-based practices like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and DBT-informed skills, adapted for neurodivergent and medically complex clients.

That means we don’t try to “fix” you—we work with your brain, your body, and your reality.

Together, we focus on:

  • Building sustainable systems for ADHD, executive functioning, and daily life

  • Navigating chronic illness, fatigue, and medical uncertainty

  • Processing grief, identity shifts, and ambiguous loss

  • Strengthening emotional regulation and self-trust

  • Improving relationships, communication, and social confidence

This is therapy that is practical, collaborative, and deeply validating.

Working Together

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore how I might support your journey. We'll discuss your needs, answer your questions, and ensure we're a good fit.

Fees

Between $175 per session. We typically meet weekly for 4-6 weeks before dropping down to every other week, then once a month, then as needed or ending therapy. This varies from person to person depending on the level of support you want and need.

For the “Othered,” the In-Between, the Becoming

  • Teens, Young Adults & Families

    I specialize in supporting:

    • Neurodivergent clients (ADHD, Autism traits, executive dysfunction)

    • Individuals living with chronic illness or chronic pain

    • Teens and young adults navigating identity, school, or “failure to launch” challenges

    • Highly sensitive, perfectionistic, or “parentified” individuals

    • Clients experiencing grief, loss, or major life transitions

    • Parents and caregivers needing support, tools, and guidance

My background includes work in intensive outpatient programs, education systems, and public service settings, which informs a holistic, systems-aware approach to care .

  • Many of my clients come in feeling misunderstood—like they’re carrying something invisible while the world keeps moving.

    There’s often a common thread:

    • Feeling like too much or not enough

    • Struggling with perfectionism and self-judgment

    • Navigating the gap between who you are and who you feel expected to be

I created this practice because I know how isolating that can feel—and how powerful the right support can be.

    Therapy with me is:

    • Non-pathologizing

    • Identity-affirming

    • Collaborative and honest

    • Grounded in both clinical expertise and lived understanding

  • A $175 per session fee is due at your appointment time via debit/credit/FSA/HSA cards. Sessions are 45-50 minutes.
