Regulated Therapist, Attuned Client: Movement Practices for Clinical Excellence

Online Somatic Movement Practices for Therapists Who Sit All Day

A 4-week cohort

for therapists who want to incorporate movement into their work life to be more present and sustainable in their practice.

Whether you're seeing clients back-to-back in an office or working from home, learn practical movement strategies that fit your schedule, workspace, and physical abilities. All practices can be adapted to meet your individual needs. When you're physically comfortable and regulated, you naturally hold better space for your clients.

The issue isn't sitting itself, it's the internal pressure and tension we hold while supporting our clients. This cohort teaches you gentle, evidence-based approaches to partnership with your body, helping you move from tension as habit to conscious body awareness and regulation - all while staying right in your therapy office.

You'll gain:

  • Evidence-based movement techniques rooted in neuroscience research on muscle cocontractions and nervous system safety

  • Body-based self-regulation tools to practice before teaching clients the same

  • Gentle movement practices and quick resets for your specific work environment (whether you’re working from home or in an office)

  • Body partnership principles and strategies that benefit both you as the therapist and translate beautifully to your client work

  • Personalized solutions for workspace limitations and individual movement patterns

Led by: Destiny Davis LPC CRC (chronic illness therapist) & Jason Therrien DPT (physical therapy - chronic pain specialist)

Format: Small group, hands-on experience - no lectures, just easily digestible pieces of body-education and practical tools you can immediately use. Each session begins with 15-20 minutes of foundational concepts, followed by experiential learning where you'll practice checking inwardly to discover exactly what works for your body.

Sitting is NOT the new smoking, and we’ll show you why…

The Four-Part Framework:

Week 1: Trunk - mid to low back, abdomen, and pelvic floor - Learn about your core foundation and how tension patterns develop in your trunk area. Through mindful awareness and gentle movement, you'll discover what your trunk needs and how to respond to its signals.

Week 2: Arms and Legs - includes hands and feet - Explore the anatomy and movement patterns of your limbs. Practice tuning into sensations of heaviness, tension, and fatigue in your arms and legs to develop personalized movement responses.

Week 3: Head and Neck - includes face and upper back - Understand how stress and concentration affect your head, neck, face, and upper back. Learn to recognize your unique holding patterns and discover gentle movements that bring relief.

Week 4: Review and Integration - Explore your body as a whole while learning to identify what creates tension buildup and what helps release it. Integrate your body awareness skills and develop strategies for both releasing existing tension and preventing future accumulation.

Everything you learn translates directly to your client work, giving you both personal relief and professional tools.

Body Partnership Principles

This cohort is grounded in the understanding that you have a relationship with your body, along with the symptoms and sensations you feel in it—and this relationship affects many things, including how much tension you hold and how you treat your body day-to-dayThese patterns of tension and bodily engagement become neuroplastic habits, and Jason and Destiny will co-facilitate to teach you the art of retraining your brain through attention, repetition, and consistent practice over time.

Rather than pushing into pain (like scratching an itch that only makes things worse), you'll learn pain-free range of motion that allows your nervous system to recognize safety. Think of it like a Chinese finger trap—the gentler your approach, the more freedom you discover.

As helping professionals, we're trained to keep our attention focused outward on our clients. This work helps you redirect some of that attention inward, becoming a better partner to your own body—a skill that enhances both your personal wellbeing and your professional effectiveness.

This cohort welcomes people of all abilities and disabilities. Movement practices will be adapted to meet individual needs and physical capabilities.

Disability/Accommodations

Compassion, mindful awareness, and body-knowledge guide our work. Jason and Destiny have created an affirming space for all identities and backgrounds, recognizing that movement practices and nervous system regulation are deeply personal and culturally influenced.
