“My experiences in chronic illness come from both personal and professional experiences. I learned first hand the challenges of navigating the medical system and symptom management all while trying to live the life you want to live.”
— Rachael Gay

About:

Rachael is a licensed independent clinical social worker delivering telehealth psychotherapy in California and Massachusetts. Rachael approaches therapy through the lens that we all are impacted by numerous systems, experiences, and factors unique to each of us. Rachael is passionate about supporting clients in reaching their potential, taking steps within their control to live the life they want to live, and helping client identify their values and align their actions with their values. Rachael strives to make her therapy space a place where relationship is at the center and you feel you can show up as your authentic, genuine self.

I specialize in working with these populations:

  • Anxiety and Panic Disorders

  • Depression

  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome

  • Endometriosis

  • IBS/IBD

  • PCOS

  • Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS)

  • PTSD

  • Trigeminal neuralgia

My expertise comes from:

“My experiences in chronic illness come from both personal and professional experiences. Navigating chronic illness throughout my life due to my Endometriosis diagnosis as well as being raised by caregivers struggling with chronic illness, I learned first hand the challenges of navigating the medical system and symptom management all while trying to live the life you want to live.

Throughout my work in community mental health and now private practice, I have sat alongside people as they have journeyed through the medical system, adapted and coped with new diagnoses, adapted to transitions/and changes in connection to chronic illness and engaged in and explored symptom management. I have and continue to take steps towards increasing my knowledge in this space through trainings, consultations, and books.”
