“Chronic illness is so impactful and often a huge part of someone’s life, but at the same time, it’s not the only thing in someone’s life. It’s not all that you’re about, but it can also be painful if people forget that it’s there. I try to find that balance.”
— Jo Eckler

About:

Dr. Jo Eckler (they/them) has spent over eighteen years as a licensed psychologist helping clients build lives that feel more meaningful and manageable.

I specialize in working with these populations:

  • Invisible Illnesses

  • Autoimmune Conditions

  • POTS

  • Migraine

  • GI Conditions

  • Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)

  • Various Types of Psoriasis

My expertise comes from:

“I’ve been living with multiple chronic illnesses since I was a teenager, but I never had a therapist who understood my experience. Later, when I went to graduate school, I trained in a community mental health center as well as VA hospitals, and then I worked for many years in the VA healthcare system. I have provided therapy to nursing home residents, and I have also spent time as part of a group practice that specialized in therapy for gastrointestinal conditions.

All of those years and all the clients I saw taught me about the many ways chronic illness affects us and how to help make it a little easier to live with. ”
