“My own lived experience knows it’s dynamic, I know we can have okay days, neutral days, decent days, horrible days. I know this can be frustrating and not predictable. I know that we can try to understand and figure out and make it predictable but it doesn’t always help anyway. ”
— Heather Jackson

About:

Heather works from a person-centered, liberatory, and harm reduction framework. She has many years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and individuals with trauma, eating disorders, chronic illness, and perinatal mental health issues. She also is LGBTQIA2S+ affirming and writes gender affirmation letters. She has worked in a variety of settings including a university counseling center, community mental health settings, home based settings, trauma speciality clinics, and outpatient settings. She is currently in private practice and is licensed in 6 states. Her home state is Maryland, where she resides and has in-person appointments once a week at her office in Hagerstown, MD. Otherwise she does telehealth.

I specialize in working with these populations:

  • Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

  • Long Covid

  • ME/CFS

  • POTS

  • MCAS

  • Histamine Intolerance

  • Migraines

  • Endometriosis

  • Adenomyosis

  • PMDD

My expertise comes from:

“I have spent most of my life with navigating chronic illnesses (and many of those years, I had no idea what was going on with my body!). I was also a teen parent and my daughter has chronic illnesses, as well. My daughter and I got asthma from a train derailment chemical spill and I've had migraines since I can remember. When I got to a better place in my own life, I began exploring what else was actually going on with my body and it's been difficult, but has helped me understand my body more (HSD, POTS, Histamine Intolerance, Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, PMDD). This has led me to have a chronic illness affirming practice, as well as taking more trainings. I have taken trainings with a chronic illness lens related to my other specialities, as well as chronic illness trainings on their own. ”
