“I realized that it was more important, at least initially, for me to sit with people and learn their stories, and to help them find some space to start to process everything they were experiencing.”
— Emily Young

About:

Emily helps adults navigate health changes, loss, relationships, identity, and other transitions. Her professional background includes neurorehabilitation and community health settings, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. She has particular experience supporting people navigating neurological changes, paralysis, disability, chronic pain, and significant changes in functioning or identity.

I specialize in working with these populations:

  • Paralysis

  • Brain Injury

  • Chronic Pelvic Pain

My expertise comes from:

“I spent a decade working within the field of neurorehabiliation as a Recreation Therapist supporting adults navigating spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury and stroke recovery. My primary role within the treatment teams I worked in was to help people make sense of their new identity through exploring adaptive options for them to re-engage with their community, interests and sense of self. Since transitioning to the field of counseling, I have continued working with adults navigating health changes.”
