“What I bring to therapy is not a collection of answers. It is curiosity, clinical knowledge, lived experience, and a deep respect for the wisdom people develop while navigating lives they could never have anticipated.”
About:
Debbie Kuttner is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and founder of Lunarlaf Counseling PLLC in Seattle, Washington. With more than 30 years of experience working with adolescents and families, she brings a neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and person-centered approach to counseling.
Debbie works with teens and adults navigating chronic illness, neurodivergence, identity, anxiety, and life transitions. She is particularly interested in the intersection of chronic health conditions, mental health, executive functioning, and the challenges of living in systems that don't always recognize or accommodate individual needs.
Drawing on constructivist and narrative approaches, Debbie views clients as experts in their own lived experiences. Her work is collaborative, grounded in curiosity, and focused on helping people construct, deconstruct, and reconstruct the stories they tell about themselves and their lives.
I specialize in working with these populations:
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS)
POTS
Dysautonomia
Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)
Chronic fatigue
Post-viral conditions
PCOS
Complex health presentations that intersect with ADHD, autism, OCD, trauma, and anxiety
My expertise comes from:
“My specialization in chronic illness has developed through more than a decade of professional work with adolescents and families, my clinical counseling training, and extensive lived experience, both personally and alongside people close to me.
As an educator and school counselor, I supported young people and families navigating lengthy, emotionally complex diagnostic journeys involving Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), POTS, dysautonomia, post-viral complications, chronic fatigue, and trauma-related health conditions. Much of this work involved helping students navigate school attendance, accommodations, relationships, and identity while living with symptoms that were often poorly understood or inadequately accommodated.
During my clinical internship, I also worked with clients experiencing complex, emerging health conditions following traumatic events, including motor vehicle accidents, as well as neurological and vestibular complications, sepsis, pregnancy loss, and the psychological consequences of medical trauma.
My lived experience, both personal and within close relationships, encompasses PANS/PANDAS, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), EDS, POTS, dysautonomia, PCOS, dysmenorrhea, mold-related illness, metabolic syndrome, chronic fatigue, food allergies and sensitivities, and MTHFR variants. These experiences have also intersected with ADHD, autism, AuDHD, OCD, demand avoidance, trauma, and substance use disorders.
