“It is difficult for people who don’t have a chronic illness to truly understand how scary it is to know your life is forever different when you receive certain diagnoses. I know their illness doesn’t define them...”
About:
Dr. Tera Lensegrav-Benson is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience helping adolescents and adults navigate anxiety, OCD, chronic illness, perimenopause, and parenting. She completed her doctoral training in Clinical, Counseling, and School Psychology at Utah State University, where she received specialized training in Health Psychology, creating a strong foundation for integrating the mind-body connection into therapy.
Throughout her career, Dr. Tera has worked extensively with individuals facing complex medical and psychological conditions, including those learning to adapt to diagnoses that don't simply go away. She has particular expertise in helping clients cope with health anxiety, chronic illness, medical trauma, eating disorders, and the emotional impact of living with ongoing health challenges. Her approach focuses on helping clients develop practical coping skills, reconnect with their values, and build a meaningful life.
Dr. Tera integrates evidence-based therapies with neuroscience-informed and mind-body approaches to provide compassionate, personalized care. Dr. Tera provides telehealth therapy to clients across 43 PSYPACT states, making specialized psychological care accessible to individuals wherever life takes them. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Utah State University.

“Starting in 2000, as a doctoral student, I began training in the intersection of mind/body conditions. I have been a licensed psychologist with a specialty in health psychology since 2006. I have worked in many different levels of care from inpatient settings in hospitals, residential treatment, to outpatient clinics, continually growing in my skills to deliver patient centered evidence based care. I also have lived experience with chronic illness and an autoimmune condition, which has only served to deepen my commitment to working with people who have chronic illnesses.”
