About:

Lauren Burkart is a Licensed Associate Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and she is the founder of Tending Ground Counseling in, a private practice dedicated to supporting individuals living with chronic pain and chronic illness. Her work integrates somatic and mindfulness-based therapies to help clients navigate the emotional, physical, and relational challenges of persistent and complex health conditions.

Before becoming a counselor, she spent 15 years in the wellness industry working as a yoga and mindfulness teacher and massage therapist. Those experiences continue to inform her holistic approach to healing. Her passion for this work is deeply personal. Having lived with chronic pain and illness, she understands the unique challenges of navigating healthcare systems, coping with medical trauma, and living with ongoing symptoms. She is committed to helping people move beyond survival and build lives grounded in authenticity, connection, and meaning.

I specialize in working with these populations:

  • Dysautonomia

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Pelvic pain

  • Endometriosis

  • IBS

  • Migraines

  • ME/CFS

My expertise comes from:

“I have lived with chronic pain the majority of my life with migraines, joint hypermobility, and endometriosis. As a young adult, out the desire to find a solution to my own pain, I became a massage therapist and a yoga teacher. For 15 years I worked with clients with chronic pain and illness. I later pursued my Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling in order to help others like me who may not ever be “healed,” but still deserve a whole meaningful life.”
