Intimacy Beyond Chronic Pain

The Unspoken Struggle

Despite these profound effects, the intersection of chronic pain and sexuality remains largely unaddressed in traditional medical settings. Many healthcare providers lack adequate training to discuss these sensitive topics, and patients often feel too embarrassed to initiate these conversations.

This communication gap leaves many individuals and couples struggling in silence, believing they must choose between pain management and sexual fulfillment.

You're Not Alone

Chronic pain is a widespread yet often invisible challenge affecting approximately 51.6 million Americans — that's roughly one in five adults according to the latest CDC data. Beyond the physical discomfort, chronic pain creates ripple effects that touch every aspect of daily life, including your most intimate relationships.

Research shows that between 50-78% of people with chronic pain report significant difficulties with sexual function and intimacy. These challenges can include decreased desire, physical limitations, communication barriers, and emotional disconnection from partners.

A Space for Healing and Connection

Our support group addresses this critical need by creating a dedicated space where both physical pain and intimate relationships are acknowledged as equally important components of your overall wellbeing.

By bringing these topics into open, facilitated discussion, we help participants recognize they are not alone in their experiences and that viable strategies exist to improve both pain management and sexual satisfaction.

What You'll Gain

Through education, shared experiences, and professional guidance, participants can significantly improve their quality of life and relationship satisfaction. We believe that chronic pain should not mean the end of intimacy, but rather an opportunity to explore new approaches to connection and pleasure that accommodate physical limitations while honoring your emotional and physical needs.

Our facilitators work collaboratively with pelvic floor specialists while providing supportive, non-medical guidance — we connect you with appropriate healthcare resources while focusing on the emotional and practical aspects of intimacy.

All genders safe, welcomed and encouraged to join!
